Learners must be able to fulfil the work placement requirements of the course in a regulated education and care service facility. Work placement requirements will be discussed with all Learners’ pre enrolment. .
The following techniques are employed during face-to-face delivery depending on the subject matter: power point presentations, individual tasks, case studies, research, role plays, practical demonstrations and group work. The context of the simulated workplace environment will be incorporated into delivery methodologies and learners complete tasks to appropriate workplace standards. During non-contact time Learners will be provided with text books to develop knowledge and understanding. This includes a mixture of theoretical information and tasks. Text books include sufficient information for the learners to learn the topic, undertake practice activities and complete tasks. Learners will be supported by their trainers outside of class contact time. During workplace delivery and/ or work placement Learners practice applying the relevant knowledge and skills in the workplace when completing job/ role activities. Learners develop their knowledge and skills through performing workplace tasks that relate to the relevant units of competency and also complete learning activities in their own time.
Learners are provided guidance, instruction and feedback by workplace supervisors on their competency in performing workplace tasks. Trainers liaise with workplace supervisors to ascertain levels of competence where appropriate. Trainers will, also arrange visits to the workplace to provide instruction, support and for assessment purposes. Learners will be provided opportunities for formative assessment during delivery. Trainers provide feedback to Learners on areas for improvements to facilitate the development of appropriate knowledge and skills and prepare them for summative assessment.
Some units of competency have common content so we therefore adopt a ‘clustered’ approach to assessment where units may be assessed in conjunction with others using the one assessment tool. Six units of competency require the student to complete a minimum number of hours in the client’s workplace or placement organisation. Assessment methods include a combination of written tests, projects, reports and practical demonstration of skills. Client’s competency against the unit of competency specifications are assessed throughout the course. Learners are provided with opportunities for reassessment if they fail to demonstrate competency during assessment tasks. Learners will be informed of assessment processes and methodologies preenrolment and at orientation. Assessors will provide copies of the assessment tasks in accordance with the assessment schedule and discuss the assessment requirements with each client prior to them attempting each task.
There are no formal entry requirements for this course. Learners must have access to a relevant workplace/ placement organisation with all the required elements to facilitate learning and assessment activities.
